Week in Review: May 2nd- 5th

Lower Elementary students had a wonderful week! Third graders were busy taking the SAT while first and second graders were busy in the classroom working on jobs.

For language jobs, first graders practiced dividing words into syllables, used and identified nouns in a sentence, identified main ideas and details, combined root words word to create compound words, and placed words in ABC order by their first letter. Second graders practiced reviewed grammar symbols, reviewed compound words, and identified pairs of words as synonyms and antonyms. Third graders identified the characters, setting, and major events of a story, reviewed grammar symbols, and identified the subject and predicate of a sentence.

For math jobs, first graders solved addition problems, skip counted by 1's, 2's, 5's, and 10's, and solved word problems. Second graders solved addition and multiplication problems, wrote numbers in expanded notation, practiced addition and multiplication facts, and rounded numbers to the 10's and 100's place. Third graders solved problems with all operations, wrote numbers in expanded notation, identified place value in whole and decimal numbers, identified even and odd numbers, compared numbers, and rounded numbers to the 10's, 100's, and 1000's place.

For cultural jobs, students studied seed dispersal in Science. For History, students researched the Northwest North American tribes.

Next week, students will complete quarterly reviews in Language and Math. Students will also be practicing a song for the Peace Ceremony on Friday, May 13th.
