Week in Review for March 10-14

We had a great week in Lower Elementary! From practicing for the upcoming Spring program to celebrating Pi day (3/14/14), we were very busy!

For language jobs this week,  First grade students reviewed ABC Order, prefixes, and suffixes.  Second grade students reviewed antonyms, synonyms, and syllables. Third Grade students reviewed sentence parts (subject and predicate), homophones/homographs/homonyms, and antonyms/synonyms.

For math jobs this week,  First grade students reviewed how to solve for missing variables, adding with larger numbers, and counting coins. Second grade students reviewed multiplication, word problems, and proper/improper/mixed number fractions. Third Grade students reviewed division, multiplication, and adding/subtracting of fractions.

On Friday (3/14/14), we celebrated Pi Day. We learned what pi was by hearing a presentation and listening to two Pi Day songs. We then went to stations where we graphed several numbers of pi, made a bracelet with colored beads to symbolize the first several digits of pi, and found pi using hands-on materials.

Next week, students will be busy at work reviewing possessive, common, and proper nouns. Students will also review rounding, fractions, and the commutative property.

REMINDERS:
-All homework is typically sent home on Monday and is to be completed during the week. It is due on Friday. Students will be given Spelling tests and Math Timed tests in class every Friday.
