Week in Review : April 3rd - 6th

We had a wonderful week in Lower Elementary! Students enjoyed working and learning with their classmates as we returned from Spring Break.

In language this week, students reviewed rhyming words and contractions. First graders continued their work with prepositions, while second graders wrote sentences containing pronouns. Third graders analyzed sentences and identified them as either facts or opinions. All students began a new writing unit which will focus on writing various types of poetry.

In math this week, first graders were introduced to large division while second and third graders solved problems with all four operations. All students solved word problems involving fractions, reviewed ordinal numbers, and also reviewed the characteristics of geometric solids. Second and third graders used rounding in order to estimate the sum of two addends.

For cultural work this week, students began a botany study by exploring the way that plants are classified. Students also viewed a video and completed a follow up work which identified the different layers of the atmosphere. Students are also continuing to explore ways to increase peaceful behaviors within the classroom and world as part of a larger unit of study on peace.

We look forward to a wonderful upcoming week!
