Week in Review : August 15th - 19th

We had another great week in Lower Elementary! Students enjoyed cultural presentations and follow ups such as completing science experiments, making models of the Inner Earth, and researching about the planets.

In language arts, first graders were introduced to nouns, ABC Order, and reviewed compound words. Second graders reviewed ABC order and compound words. They also explored verb tenses. Third graders reviewed ABC order, compound words, and reviewed the parts of speech such as prepositions and adverbs.

In math, first graders reviewed place value, told time to the hour, and practiced addition facts. Second graders reviewed addition, told time to the five minute mark, and practiced skip counting. Third graders reviewed all math operations, told time to the 1 minute mark, calculated elapsed time to the hour, and practiced skip counting.

Next week, students will be introduced to/review fractions, write number words, review plane shapes, and continue to work with grammar symbols. Students will continue to complete science experiments, will identify the parts of a volcano, and will learn about the different eras of time. It will be a great week!

There are a few housekeeping things to keep in mind :

2. School dismisses at 2pm every Monday.

3. All children will need a pair of non-marking PE shoes to wear in the gym.

4. Red folders are sent home in backpacks. Please complete your child's reading log each night.
