School begins at 8:00

Good morning parents,
This is just a reminder that school begins at 8:00 and learning begins at 8:15.  Many of our students have been "trickling" in at 8:20, 8:25, and later.  This causes issues with your child having a smooth start to their day, issues with charging you accurately for their lunch when we do the lunch count, and more.  Please account for morning traffic, morning drop off here at school, as well as allowing time for your child to unpack their backpacks and remove their shoes.

Thank you,
Lower Elementary

Health Note to Parents: Lice and the Flu

Parents,

Please be aware that we have one confirmed case of lice in the lower elementary.  We would advise that you please do a lice check on your child.  If you find lice or nits in your child's hair, please purchase a lice treatment kit (Nix, Rid, see what your chid's physician recommends, etc.) and immediately treat your child's lice.  Please do not send your child back to school until he or she has been nit free for 24 hours.

From the CDC's website regarding lice:

Getting head lice in not related to cleanliness of the person or his or her environment.

Head lice are mainly spread by direct contact with the hair of an infested person.  The most common way to get head lice if by head-to-head contact with a person who already has head lice.  Such contact can be common among children during play at:
- school,
- home, and
- elsewhere (sports activities, playgrounds, camp, and slumber parties).

Also, in order to maintain a healthy classroom of students and teachers, please keep your child home if they have a fever, and allow the child to be fever free for at least 24 hours before they return to school.

Respectfully,
Lower Elementary

Fresh flowers and classroom pet food

Good evening all!  We are in need of volunteers to bring fresh flowers for the classrooms.  Lists are hanging on each door for you to sign up if interested.

Louis, the gecko, is in need of food donations.  We are currently raising our own mealworms however the mealworms need food.  If interested (and willing), please send in a jar of Fluker's Cricket Quencher - Calcium Fortified (it's yellow-orange and about $7).  We also are in need of small crickets (about $2).  Both can be purchased at local pet stores.
Thank you!
