Week in Review - September 5th-9th

We had a wonderful (though short) week in Lower Elementary! Students have established classroom rules and expectations and are working hard at maintaining peaceful and productive environments! Students enjoyed some role playing and acting out of scenarios which highlighted some situations which can arise in the classroom. Students worked together to discuss the best option for how to react to each scenario. Students also enjoyed participating in the first Peace Ceremony of the year!

In language arts, first grade students had continued work with antonyms and matched sets of animals to their young. Second grade students reviewed antonyms and had continued work with verbs. Third grade students have continued work with antonyms and identified the various types of adverbs.

In math, first grade students continued work with addition, wrote number words, matched fraction cards, and created art work using plane shape (modeled after the work of artist Paul Klee). Second grade students had continued work with multiplication, wrote numbers in expanded notation, found equivalent fractions, and found the perimeter of quadrilaterals. Third grade students worked with  two digit multiplication problems, wrote numbers in expanded notation, found equivalent fractions, and made quadrilaterals.

For cultural lessons, students discussed constellations in science. In History, students were presented the Timeline of Life. In Geography, students completed research on the basic land and water forms.

Next week, students will work with synonyms, even and odd numbers, common and proper nouns, and will compare fractions! It will be a great week!
