January 25 - 29, 2021

We are ending January with a bang. All the students have been working very hard and completing their workplans. They earned extra recess time on Friday. Yeah!!  We practiced a lot of subtraction using Stamp Game for place value to thousands, facts practice, and fraction work. Listening to Ms. Genie read an abridged version of The Watsons go to Birmingham - 1963 is fun and we use it for inspiring creative writing paragraphs.  Matching prefixes to root words and using the words in sentences helps us learn how the prefix has a meaning that changes the root word. Keep up the good work. Have a safe weekend.
See everyone on Monday!!!

January 11-15, 2021

What a great start to the 3rd quarter. The students have been working hard on new lessons. Everyone was introduced to prefixes, commutative properties of addition and multiplication, plus subtraction operations to the thousands place and with fractions. Students are practicing identifying different times across time zones in the United States. We are continuing study of explorers with Cortez. Botany lessons continued with labeling parts of the plant. First graders were introduced to simple tenses of verbs. Second graders did a grammar review of parts of speech they have had lessons on so far. Third graders finished working with pronouns. Spelling tests resumed and students have new lists being emailed today. We are using The Watsons Go To Birmingham - 1963 for a number of activities such as read aloud from Ms. Genie, creative writing prompts, and character development.  Have a nice, long weekend since there is no school on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

January 5 - 8, 2021

We hope everyone enjoyed their Holiday Break. This was the last week of the second quarter so we reviewed and practiced concepts that had already been presented. It is a good time to go over math facts, keep your reading log up to date, and study spelling words. Please make sure that all work done online is submitted. Also, send any vocabulary workbooks, cursive notebooks, and worksheets back to the classroom. We are looking forward to a good start on the second half of the school year.
