For language jobs this week, first grade students reviewed compound words, reviewed ABC Order, and sorted nouns into people/places/things. Second grade students created a list of compound words, explored irregular past tense verbs, and matched initial blends to the correct picture. Third graders wrote sentences with compound words, worked with prepositions and adverbs, and matched cards to create words that began with phonics blends.
For math jobs this week, first graders completed addition problems using the golden beads, wrote number words for 1-10, were introduced to fractions, and reviewed plane shapes (circle, square, rectangle, etc). Second graders completed large addition and multiplication problems, wrote number words, and reviewed fractions and plane shapes. Third grade students completed large multiplication problems, wrote number words, and reviewed fractions and plane shapes.
In History, students represented the various time periods using The Clock of Eras. In Geography, the learned the parts of a volcano.
Next week, students will have continued work with number words and expanded notation, study quadrilaterals, explore Antonyms, edit writings for errors, learn basic land and water forms, explore the life cycle of a star, and hear The Drama of the Archeozoic Ocean. It will be a great week!
