Week in Review: February 6- February 10

We had a wonderful week in Lower Elementary! Students had a great time learning new information in class as well as practicing how to set a pace while running laps during P.E.

For language arts jobs, first graders were introduced to singular possessive nouns, homographs, and analogies. Students also sorted verbs based on their tense (past or present). Second grade students were introduced to singular and plural possessive nouns, homographs, and analogies. Students also completed work with pronouns. Third grade students were introduced to singular and plural possessive nouns and homographs. Students also reviewed analogies and wrote sentences with interjections.

For math jobs, first graders practiced completing large subtraction problems, found the position of straight lines within our classroom, and practiced measuring objects with a ruler. Second grade students reviewed subtraction, were introduced to the different types of angles, and practiced finding the area and perimeter of rectangles and squares. Third grade students solved problems with all operations, reviewed how to convert decimals into simple fractions, and reviewed how to find the area and perimeter of rectangles and squares. Third graders continued to solve algebraic equations using the Hands On Equation materials.

For cultural jobs, students learned about the Underground Railroad and conductors like Harriet Tubman. In science, students explored the body parts and functions of the invertebrate animals called porifera (sponges). In geography, students discovered the various layers of the ocean and identified animals that live at each level.
