Week in Review : January 30th - February 3rd

We had another wonderful week in Lower Elementary! Students were busy at work discovering the various types of invertebrates, learning about ocean currents, and researching famous African-Americans as a part of a Black History Month assignment.

For language jobs, first graders reviewed plural words, sorted verbs into present and past tense, and wrote a friendly letter for their creative writing assignment. Second graders reviewed plural words, were introduced to pronouns, and wrote a friendly letter. Third graders reviewed plural words, were introduced to analogies, and wrote sentences containing interjections.

For math jobs, first graders solved large subtraction problems, identified the positions of a straight line (horizontal, vertical, oblique), and were introduced to measuring with a ruler. Second graders completed large addition, multiplication, and subtraction problems, identified the parts of an angle, and reviewed how to calculate the perimeter and area of squares and rectangles. Third graders solved problems covering all four operations, review how to calculate perimeter and area, and were introduced to the decimal system.

For cultural jobs, students explored invertebrates of the ocean, identified the causes of ocean currents, and explored the contributions of some famous African-Americans.
