Week in Review: April 4th-8th

We had a wonderful week in Lower Elementary! Spring is in the air and students enjoyed playing "Secret Agent Tag" in the sunshine during recess!

For language jobs this week, first graders had further practice with prefixes, prepositions, and compound words. Second graders were introduced to possessive nouns, continued working with pronouns, and used a thesaurus to locate synonyms and antonyms of certain words. Third graders discussed cause and effect, used a thesaurus to locate synonyms and antonyms of certain words, and analyzed sentences for subjects, predicates, and direct objects.

For math job this week, first grade students worked with addition, multiplication, and subtraction problems, were introduced to liquid measurement, solved word problems, and practiced their subtraction facts. Second graders worked with division problems and facts, reviewed liquid measurement, and solved two step word problems. Third graders worked with all operations, reviewed liquid measurement, and found the least common multiple of two numbers.

In History, students continued their study of Native Americans by completing research on the Native Americans of the Plains. In Geography, students researched the North American grasslands biome. In Science, students investigated the parts of a flower.

It was a great and busy week!
