February 19, 2021

February was about to get away without an update to our blog, so here is an overview for the past few weeks. We have begun Black History month with reading comprehension jobs, a power point presentation, and a poetry analysis. Economic Geography was introduced with a video and fill-in-the-blank follow-up job. We will be doing a study of Alabama throughout the month. Botany lessons have included parts of the stem and parts of the seed. Everyone is working with suffixes, their meanings, and usage in sentences. First graders focused on types of verbs: action, linking, and helping. Second graders continued identifying adverbs, matching logical adverbs, and sorting types of adverbs. Third graders continued to symbolize conjunctions and using them in sentences.  Subtraction is the central operation for math skills: large number operations with borrowing, facts memorization practice, and fraction subtraction. In geometry, we are studying angles, their parts, types of angles, and intro to measuring angles with a protractor.

After the long weekend for President's Day, we got a surprise Mardi Gras snow day on Tuesday 16th. This made it a little hard to stay in routine, but we are ready to get back on track on Monday 22nd and finish out this month being as productive as we started.

Contracts were sent home on Friday 19, 2021.
